Camp Kinda

A different kind of camp, for a different kind of summer.

Weekly adventures for kids stuck at home

For a while, we thought summer might bring back some normalcy—like playgrounds, and libraries, and pools. And camp. Unfortunately, now we know this summer is going to be different from the rest. Are you laughing, or crying? (Full disclosure: Around here we’re doing both.)

We started thinking about what kind of support we could provide to stressed parents and bored kids, to help get us all through these next few months. We can’t watch your kids all day, but we can offer something else: curiosity-sparking activities, every day, curated by passionate educators and experts and tied to a genuinely exciting weekly theme.

Enter Camp Kinda.

Camp Kinda is a free, at-home summer experience designed to keep kids engaged, asking questions, and having fun even while they’re stuck at home. It’s like summer camp—kinda. Each weekday from June 1 to September 1, participating families will get 3-4 hours’ worth of daily activities, all connected to a weekly theme and curated by experts with a passion for their topic.

It’s not like homework or summer school. On any given day, kids may be exploring the art of graphic novels, unlocking the mysteries of history, or jumping into the world’s craziest sports. With a mix of online and offline activities, Camp Kinda is flexible enough to let you pick and choose what you put in front of your kids (and when), but kid-driven enough to let you step away and get things done.

No, it’s not the same as a traditional summer camp. Even so, we hope it makes the summer a little less stressful for everyone in your family. In keeping with our approach of partnering with employers to offer our educational support services to their employees, we’ll be teaming up with employers and other organizations nationwide—from universities and school systems to major retailers and hotel chains—to offer Camp Kinda for free to as many families as need and want it.

We hope you’ll sign up, too. Visit CampKinda.org to learn more and use registration code KINDA2020 to get started for free. You’ll get weekly emails from us laying out each week’s adventures, plus tips for parents, suggested family activities, and regular reminders. Share the news with everyone you know!
